TWO people from Westbury have died after the red Ford Mustang they were travelling in collided with a lorry on the A36 near Crockerton.

The 61-year-old male driver and a 28-year-old female rear passenger were both killed in the crash between the Crockerton and Heytesbury roundabouts around 4.30pm yesterday.

They were travelling east along the A36 when their car collided with a Morrisons delivery lorry travelling in the opposite direction.

A 60-year-old woman, who was travelling in the Mustang as a front seat passenger and also from the Westbury area, suffered minor injuries and has been discharged from the Royal United Hospital in Bath.

A silver VW Golf, driven by a 58-year-old man from London, was also involved in the accident with the driver suffering minor injuries. He was taken to the Royal United Hospital, Bath, but has since been discharged.

The driver of the lorry, a 69-year-old man from Weston-super-Mare, is not thought to have been injured.

Wiltshire Air Ambulance attended along with three fire engines – two from Warminster and one from Westbury – and also the heavy rescue unit from Trowbridge.

WAA tweeted: "Helimed 22 attended the tragic accident near Warminster this evening. Thoughts & deepest sympathies are with all involved."
