FORMER Warminster Mayor Andrew Davis was on hand to donate more than £2,000 to Wiltshire Air Ambulance (WAA) at its Operation Centre in Devizes, having raised the funds during his time in office.

Cllr Davis chose the WAA as his charity of choice when mayor from May 2014/2015.

He said: “I chose Wiltshire Air Ambulance as my mayor’s charity because I feel it is there to help anyone at any time when in need of immediate medical support.

“It is a wonderful service that is so important to our community as we live in such a rural area.

“The charity relies almost entirely on public donations to keep flying and does not receive central government funding, so it is vital that they get support from the community.”

Rebecca de la Bedoyere, fundraising manager at Wiltshire Air Ambulance, said: “It was a real pleasure welcoming Councillor Andrew Davis to the Operations Centre.

“Being Mayor of Warminster undoubtedly kept him very busy, yet he still managed to raise an amazing £2,056 during his time in office, which will help support our lifesaving service.

“We're incredibly grateful to him for all his hard work, and to the people of Warminster who contributed to this fantastic sum.”
