WARMINSTER Mayor Sue Fraser took a leap of faith at the weekend as she jumped out of a plane 10,000 feet in the air and did a charity skydive to raise money for the Wessex Multiple Sclerosis Centre.

She said: “I thoroughly enjoyed it although the anticipation before it was a bit nerve wracking.

“The best bit had to of been when they opened the parachute and you were coming down and you could look around and you could see all the way down to the Isle of Wight, it was just exhilarating.

“The worst bit was having to hang around beforehand as the nerves built up, we got there at 11am but I didn’t actually jump until about 2pm.

“I was the thirteenth jumper but luckily I’m not superstitious and the guy I was with was brilliant and he made me feel totally relaxed as did all the staff there.”

Cheered on by family and friends and along with Mary Trimarco, Hayley Wheeler and Reuben Davidson who all have links with the centre, Mayor Fraser took part in the skydive at Old Sarum Airfield in Salisbury on Sunday.

She has managed to raise more than £1,000 for the MS Centre for which she is a trustee of and has chosen as her charity of choice.

“I wasn’t expecting to raise as much as I have for the MS Centre I was thinking I would get around £500-£600, but it is good that I have raised more,” she added.

“Funnily enough I wouldn’t mind doing a skydive again having done it and got over the fear.

“I think I liked it because it was exhilarating and when I got down I thought ‘can I go again?’.”
