WARMINSTER’S Athenaeum Singers begin rehearsals on Tuesday for their performance of Mozart’s glorious Requiem at the end of November.
New singers are invited to join for the first three rehearsals without commitment; a fee only becomes payable when they decide to join. Help on the choir’s website makes it possible for singers without music reading skills to reinforce what they learn in rehearsals and perform successfully with the choir.
Young chorus master Patrick Barrett has quickly endeared himself to the choir. His skills as a singer and educator, and his rapport with choir members ensure efficient, purposeful and enjoyable learning. Director of music Edward-Rhys Harry will continue his input in the choir’s planning and concert production.
The Mozart Requiem is a great favourite of singers and audiences alike. It's dramatic and moving music became known to a wider audience through the film, Amadeus. This will be teamed with a selection of shorter pieces to provide a varied and enticing programme and a challenging rehearsal period for the singers.
