POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a car crash on the A303 near Chaddenwick Hill left an elderly man with life-changing injuries.
The incident happened at 3.30pm on Wednesday near West Knoyle, when a silver Honda CR-V left the road, flipped and hit a tree when heading towards Mere.
The road was shut for several hours while emergency services attended the scene and the male driver was flown to Bristol's Southmead Hospital with serious injuries.
An elderly woman, who was a passenger in the car, also suffered minor injuries.
The road was reopened at 7.30pm.
