A DONATION of £4,000 has been made to the RUH Forever Friends Appeal by the Warminster and District Fundraising Group for the charity's Cancer Care Campaign.

A total of 27 million pounds needs to be raised to build the planned state of the art cancer treatment centre, which will be based in Bath's Royal United Hospital and is scheduled to be in full operation by 2019.

The Warminster & District Fundraising Group has been supporting the campaign throughout and donated a further £4,000 on Friday (April 8).

Lydia McGivern, Forever Friends Appeal's community fundraiser, said: “We can’t thank the Warminster fundraising group enough, the work they put in to raise money for us is simply unbelievable.

“So far, they have raised over £28,000 for the new cancer centre, which is an incredible amount. They seem to have a new cheque for us every month.

"This latest donation of £4,000 is just another example of their generosity, which seems to have no boundaries.

“The way they raise the money is incredible too, they host all kinds of events from toy pig races to pub quizzes to walks across Wiltshire."

The Warminster & District Fundraising Group was started up three years ago and meets once a month to discuss new fundraising ideas.

Of the 27 million pounds needed for the new cancer treatment unit, eight and a half million will be provided by the Forever Friends Appeal.
