KINGDOWN School proudly presented its Alice in Wonderland fashion show and exhibition on Wednesday night (April 20).

Pupils at the school have spent the past year creating costumes and pieces of art, which were all on display on stage as parents and teachers watched on.

Jo Dyson, design teacher, said: “This year’s fashion show has once again been a roaring success, with many positive comments from parents being bounced around the room.

“The theme of Alice in Wonderland came to me after last year’s show, the main reason being that I wanted it to be colourful and creative.

“I knew that this theme would give the students the chance to be flamboyant with their own hair and make-up. I generated mood boards with pupils to get ideas for the performance and held several meetings with the audio-visual team, in which we created a playlist and selected images to help set the scene.

“The students worked extremely hard during the year to create their show pieces. The students had big ideas and I didn’t want to stifle them, so we put in many hours after school to get a good quality product.

“Two days prior to the show the students came together to rehearse their section in the show. They didn’t let me down. They all seemed to realise how significant their parts were and did it to the best of their ability.

“Needless to say I am very proud of all of them and the culmination of all this hard work makes me proud to be a part on the Kingdown Design team. Roll on next year.”
