A MUM-OF-THREE completed an inspirational challenge in support of The Forever Friends Appeal’s RUH Cancer Care Campaign last week.

Nicola Noble and her Jack Russel Flo, of Swaledale Road, Warminster, hiked a total of 100 miles around the RUH’s extensive catchment area, walking between The Forever Friends Appeal’s four Community Fundraising Groups.

Mrs Noble decided to take on the challenge to mark the tenth year of the Appeal’s Walk of Life, which was set up in memory of her sister, Vanessa Kyte, who lost her battle with cancer in 2007, and to celebrate the achievements of the Appeal’s fundraising groups.

Mrs Noble said: “It was a really amazing week and quite emotional walking along the canal with 300 others on Saturday afternoon.

“We went to lots of lovely places and visited all of the community groups which have been set up across Wiltshire, who were all so accommodating and kind to us.

“It was so nice taking in the beautiful Wiltshire countryside in all its glory. We also met Camilla Parker Bowles by chance, who had a Jack Russell almost identical to Flo, so we naturally got on very well.

“The support from Lydia, from the Friends Forever team, was absolutely incredible throughout, walking 80 miles of the distance with me. Thank you to her and to everyone who donated, it really means so much.”

The walker and her canine friend began their walk in Devizes and walked through Chippenham, Bath, Radstock, Warminster, and back to Devizes.

On Saturday (May 14) Mrs Noble finished the final 21 miles of her challenge by taking part in the Walk of Life, which took place along the Kennet and Avon Canal.

All funds raised from both Mrs Noble’s 100-mile walk and the Community Groups’ supporting events will be dedicated towards The Forever Friends Appeal’s RUH Cancer Care Campaign.

The Appeal is the primary charity for Bath’s Royal United Hospital and their current major campaign is raising a minimum target of £8.5 million towards a pioneering new Cancer Centre at the RUH, which will transform Cancer Care for thousands of patients and their families across the RUH Catchment Area.
