A CLASSIC car restoration company in Warminster is celebrating the completion of its first ever apprenticeship.

Ben Forey, through Wiltshire College, undertook a two-year apprenticeship at Spencer Lane-Jones, which has been providing a high-quality car restoration service to its customers for 26 years.

Mr Forey, 18, of Bradley Lane in Holt, said: “It’s been a really cool apprenticeship. I’ve learned far more than I would have in a classroom and everyone here has been really supportive.

“I’ve always been into cars. My dad is a mechanic so I used to steal tools from the garage and learned how to use them at an early age.

“Now that they’ve offered me a full-time role, I’m looking forward to working on restoring a range of cars to a high standard.

“I would definitely recommend apprenticeships to others. They’re a really great way of getting into something you’re passionate about.”

Mr Forey will now embark on the restoration and preparation of a Jaguar E-Type for display in the new Bristol Aerospace Centre, Filton, which he must complete by September.

Peter Campbell, managing director at Spencer Lane-Jones Ltd, said: “All of the staff here are immensely proud of Ben completing his apprenticeship. We have a loyal team here with many years of experience.

“Ben has quickly become part of the family, learning both in the workshop and at college and we’re thrilled that he will continue to work with us as part of the next generation of mechanics restoring classic and thoroughbred cars.”
