A WOMAN believed to be in her 40's has died after being invovled in a car crash on the A36 near Codford this morning.

Police were called just before 9.30am to reports of a serious crash near the junction with the A303.

The female driver of the red Mini Cooper died at the scene after suffering a cardiac arrest. The driver of the Vauxhall Insignia, also female, suffered serious leg injuries and was airlifted to Southampton Hospital.

An off-duty nurse carried out CPR on the woman but was unable to revive her.

The A36 was closed until just after 3pm.

Anyone who witnessed the collision is being asked to contact Sgt Steve Love at the Roads Policing Unit on 101.
