KINGDOWN School was transformed into a Vegas casino on Thursday as pupils rolled the dice on their time as Year 11 pupils for the final time.

Roulette wheels and blackjack tables were dotted around the room as pupils reminisced over their time at the school and shared memories with each other at ‘Casino Royale’.

Miss Bishop, head of the school’s Wembley House, said: “It was an absolutely fantastic evening and all the pupils got in the spirit – they all looked brilliant.

“We kept up the Kingdown tradition of encouraging students to arrive in the most impressive fashion and, as always, there were some stand-out arrivals.

“We had students turning up in sports cars, VW campervans, ice cream vans and even on mobility scooters.

“The tradition of handing out tongue-in-cheek awards also continued with awards such as ‘most likely to become Prime Minister’ and ‘most likely to be on Jeremy Kyle’ raising a few laughs.

“There was a great attendance and lots of parents were there early to get a good spot and catch a glimpse of their children – most had tears in their eyes.”

Lydia Shibley was named Prom Queen and her partner, Adam Clarke, was crowned Prom King – they were also named as the couple most likely to get married first.

Miss Bishop added: "We wish the pupils all the best in the future whether they decide to stay here or go elsewhere."
