A BRISTOL-based artist who has been exploring the theme of curiosity with school pupils in Warminster launched The Curiosity Box on Friday.

The crafty cabinet is based at Warminster Library, where it will be stationed for nearly three weeks, culminating with a finale event on July 28 which will include shadow puppetry, a treasure trail and interactive storytelling.

Adults and their children from The Avenue, Princecroft and St Johns primary schools worked together with artist Megan Clark-Bagnall to create the contents for their individual drawers within The Curiosity Box - a project funded by Wiltshire Council.

Miss Clark-Bagnall said: “The launch day was great, there was a really nice atmosphere and lots of the children who contributed to the cabinet came back to have a look at the finished project.

"There were children from three different schools there and they all really enjoyed talking to each other about what was in their drawers and why they had chosen it.

"This project has boosted their confidence massively by encouraging them to work with each different people and with adults.

"It's also shown them that it's okay to make mistakes. At times their artwork didn't quite look how they wanted it to but it's all about rolling with it and accepting that mistakes happen, which is completely fine and normal."

Pupils collected items for their unique drawers by going outside to look for things they found curious and by finding things around the house.

They also recorded sound clips of curious noises which can be played at the press of a button.
