INSPIRE of Warminster’s annual event was enjoyed by a crowd of around 750 on Saturday, July 16.

The live music event, held in the town park, saw a varied mix of acts playing from the mellow acoustics of Ben and Tim to the rockier Status Quo tribute band, State of Quo.

Upcoming local bands including Outline, Rose Between Two Thorns and Six Feet Above also impressed the crowd with polished performances.

Organiser Veronica Mills said: “The committee would like to thank all the volunteers for helping everything run so smoothly, we couldn’t have put this event on without their help.

“Thanks to Ollie Head who made a great job of compering the event and keeping everyone informed and to Ray Mills for assisting Pete with erecting and dismantling the tarpaulins for the bandstand and for marshalling.

“Also thanks to Judith Halls, Ann Hedges, Michelle Lindley and Jack Weallans for helping set up, for marshalling and for clearing up, Marlon for helping Mike with the stage management and finally to Andrew Robinson for patiently manning the information point.

“We were so pleased that the brilliant weather was a real bonus not only for us but also for Dan’s beer tent from The Organ and Adrian’s Field Kitchen. It was great to have their continued support after the disappointment of the last-minute cancellation last year.

“And of course we have to thank the Town Council for funding Inspire and giving us the opportunity to showcase the talent that we have in the town.”

Also on the organising committee were Pete Bartley, Mike Heaton and Tom Hiscocks.

The Lakeside Community Centre was used for free music workshops with local musicians giving hands-on sessions, with the aim of inspiring people to learn a new instrument.
