A 70-YEAR-OLD man was arrested on Wednesday (July 27) on suspicion of physical and sexual abuse in connection with historical allegations in relation to the Badgeworth Court group of schools.

The man, from the Norfolk area, has been interviewed by officers from the regional Brunel Major Crime Investigation Team and bailed to return to police in September pending further inquiries.

Allegations centre on Clouds House in East Knoyle, near Warminster, as well as Dowdeswell Court and Badgeworth Court schools in Gloucestershire, which are all privately owned.

Former pupils at the schools allege that they were abused in the 1970s and 80s by staff at the three schools, leading to the investigation by police.

This was the fourth arrest since the police investigation began and the other three arrested suspects have also been bailed until September and October for further inquiries.
