A WARMINSTER girl has had 10 inches of her hair chopped off for charity.

Melanie Legg, 16, had her long locks chopped at Coiffure in Warminster and has donated it to the Little Princess Trust, a charity which provides real wig hair for boys and girls who have lost their own hair through cancer treatment and other illnesses.

Melanie set up a JustGiving page to raise money and has set a target of £350.

She said: “I'm a big fan of hair styling which I've been doing as a hobby for a while now.

“When someone told me about the Little Princess Trust, I knew I wanted to fundraise for them. I saw this as a great opportunity to help children who lose their hair due to illness and aren't as fortunate to have healthy hair like mine.

“This is why I decided to help the charity.

“My hair is very time consuming, I use nearly a quarter of a bottle of shampoo every time I wash my hair.

“Although I was very nervous it really was for the best, and I wanted to help the charity.”

Melanie is now getting used to managing her shorter hair, but still enjoys hairstyling as a hobby.
