A FITNESS mad Warminster man is gearing up for back-to-back marathons in the Sahara Desert in aid of Alzheimer’s Society.

David Francis, of High Street, will fly out to Morocco on October 20 just a few months after completing the Thames Path, South Coast and the Isle of Wight challenges, which adds up to 306km.

Now the 32-year-old, who works as a night manager at the Bath Arms in Market Place, will take on his greatest challenge yet in one of the most inhospitable environments on the planet.

"I am apprehensive but also very excited. My family all think I am crazy for doing this but I am really looking forward to it," he said.

"These challenges so far have been tough on both body and mind, but the thought of raising money for such an amazing charity has got me through the difficult stages that each challenge brought with them.

"My gran recently was diagnosed with dementia and that is one of the main reasons why I am doing this."

Mr Francis has raised £1,200 so far and to donate visit www.justgiving.com/david-francisultra
