MEMBERS of Warminster’s Military Wives Choir will feature in the organisation’s biggest ever project.

The choir, which is made up of people serving in the military, is one of 65 from across the UK featuring on Home For Christmas, an album which will be released at the end of November.

It follows on from the success of the choir’s number one single, Wherever You Are, which was released to critical acclaim in 2012.

Warminster's choir, who feature on 'Jingle Bells' and the album's lead track 'Home For Christmas', were recorded in St George's Hall, Bristol, on September 4.

Choir member Angeline Bowser, 40, whose husband has served in the military for 22 years, said: "It was a really great experience recording in Bristol with two other choirs. We were played the recording back afterwards and it sounded fantastic.

"My husband has been away at Christmas several times in the past and it really is heartbreaking, so the lyrics in ‘Home For Christmas’ brought a tear to my eye.

"In fact I think every woman whose partner has served in the military at some point in their life will be able to relate to the lyrics.

"The album, as well as sounding fantastic, will make people realise what a special time Christmas is, and how tough it is when someone who should be there with you isn’t.

"You don’t care about presents at all when someone you love is away at Christmas – you just want them home.”

The album is a collection of 12 Christmas carols and songs which have been updated with lyrics reflecting what Christmas means to women in the military community, sung by the choir of 1,006 singers.

Sue Daniels, chairman of Military Wives Choirs Foundation, said: “The festive season can be a difficult time, particularly for those within the military community.

“By creating ‘Home for Christmas’, Military Wives are supporting each other through music – and extending this unity to families throughout the UK, and across the world.”

To accompany the release the choir will be touring seven cathedrals throughout November.

Military Wives Choirs aim to provide a head-start for women in the military community to make new friends, connect with local communities and learn new skills in a fun environment.
