WARMINSTER's Athenaeum’s resident musical theatre group, the Athenaeum Masqueraders, will be looking on the bright side of life next week by putting on a performance of Monty Python's Spamalot.

The play follows the story of King Arthur as he and his knights seek the Holy Grail and is based on the 1975 film Monty Python and the Holy Grail.

Director James Finbow said: “We originally became aware that licenses were being granted all the way back in 2014 while we were preparing for our second run of Bad Girls: The Musical and we applied and were lucky enough to be granted the license on its first outing to non-professional groups.

“We’ve been rehearsing since the start of June, and rehearsals have been incredible fun, mostly descending into hysterical laughter at several points, but tempered with lots of hard work. The cast have done a sterling job in learning a lot in a short space of time, and we’re at that point now where we’re starting to run the show while polishing off the finer details."

For the first time, the Masqueraders are producing the show with a sponsor, Farnfields Solicitors, who have an office in Warminster.

Spamalot is playing for five performances starting at 7.30pm next Wednesday (Oct 26) and will run until Saturday.

Tickets are on sale ranging from £10 to £12 depending on seating, with a special price of £10 for all tickets on opening night.
