A PRELIMINARY report into the death of the man who died in Warminster after being shot by a police Taser last month states that the cause of death was wounds to the neck.
But the investigation, which was launched by the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) following the death of Terrence Bennett, is still under way.
After that is completed there will be a coroner's inquest which will determine whether or not the use of a Taser by Wiltshire Police contributed to the 44-year-old’s death.
It is not yet known when the IPCC’s investigation will finish or when the inquest will be held.
Police were called to a house in Hillwood Close, Warminster, late on October 26 after they received reports of a man who had seriously harmed himself and was threatening to harm others around him.
A Taser was deployed and he was restrained. A knife was recovered from the scene.
The IPCC investigation is seeking to establish the exact nature of contact between Mr Bennett and officers before his death. His family have requested privacy.
