DOG walkers are being warned to keep an eye on their pets after three dogs in the Warminster area became ill in quick succession.

A 17-month-old Belgian Malinois fell ill after being taken for a walk on Whitesheet Hill on Saturday, December 10.

Her owner, Gill Wilcox, said: “Around three hours after the walk my partner noticed that something was wrong with Busy.

“She had a strong aversion to light and moved away quickly every time he went to touch her. She was also really wobbly and kept falling over.

“He took her to the vet who put her on a drip and kept her in a dark room for a bit.

“Luckily we caught it early so a few days later she returned to normal and is thankfully now full of life again.

“She is a very special dog so it would have been devastating had we lost her.”

Mrs Wilcox, 47, said that Busy had been picking items up from a fly-tip and thinks this may have been how she fell ill.

The other two dogs that became ill also showed the same symptoms as Busy but have also made full recoveries.
