TWO purses were stolen from shoppers in Warminster on Saturday morning (December 24).

A purse with a floral pattern on was stolen from the handbag of a shopper in Market Place sometime between 10.40am and 10.45am. The purse contained a number of bank cards and around £15 in cash.

Around the same time a pink purse containing a number of bank cards and around £80 in cash was stolen from the handbag of a shopper in the Three Horseshoes Walk precinct.

PC Charlotte Chilton, community co-ordinator for Warminster, said: “We are reminding people to never leave bags unattended, especially on shopping trollies, and to be aware of people around them at all times.

“We are also advising people to carry their bags close to them with the clasp facing inwards, to keep it zipped up and to make sure a purse or wallet cannot be seen.

“Possessions should be spread around and not grouped together, for example a mobile phone should be kept separate from a set of keys and credit cards should be separate from a purse.

“Finally, PIN numbers should never be carried with cards.”
