A NEW community defibrillator is going to be installed in Warminster to hand a lifeline to people suffering from a heart attack in public.
The finance and assets committee of Warminster Town Council voted unanimously in favour of funding the defibrillator at a meeting on Monday night.
It will be installed on the outside wall of the Civic Centre and will cost £1,800 for the four-year-period, with Friends of Warminster Hospital making a £900 contribution towards it.
Town clerk Heather Abernethie said: “Quite a number of people have approached us over the past year and asked why we don’t have a defibrillator, so we have responded to that.
“We have told South Western Ambulance Service it’s been approved and now hope to have it in place as soon as possible.”
The town council plans to install a total of 10 defibrillators across the town in areas of high footfall easily accessed by the public.
