WARMINSTER Foodbank’s future has been secured after the town council voted to extend its lease for another five years.

Management team leader Margaret MacDonald told Warminster Town Council’s finance committee how the foodbank, located at Dewey House, has been supporting people in crisis since 2008 at a meeting on Monday, March 6.

Councillors then voted in favour of extending the lease for five years.

Mrs MacDonald said: “It is thanks to the continuing support of our local communities who donate food in Warminster, Westbury, Codford and Mere as well as food bought from foodbank funds which enables this essential service to continue.

“On average 160 people per month are provided with food and support and 1,800kg of food is weighed in, date checked, sorted and given out by volunteers.

“The foodbank is funded by individual donations and fundraising events – no grant funding is received.”

The foodbank's rent has been increased by £500 per year.
