FROM a Donald Trump Mexican climbing wall to a smoothie bike, families flocked to the Warminster Wobble over the weekend for the jam-packed festival of biking fun.

The annual event, which is now in its ninth year, was the wackiest one to date with cycling enthusiasts taking full advantage of the glorious sunshine by descending on the town park for a whole host of wheel-y fun activities.

Organiser Colin French said while it would be almost impossible to say how many people attended, he believes around 1,000 people made their way through the gates.

“It was a lot of preparation but we have a great team of dedicated people who have helped from taking photos to promoting the event on social media,” he said.

“There were lots of children getting involved in the cycling and at the end of the day, the Warminster Wobble is aimed at families and to try and get people out cycling and enjoying the beautiful countryside we have around Warminster.

“We wanted to attract people to come and see the Wobble so the plan was to have someone with a Donald Trump mask but because of the heat, we didn’t think anyone wanted to do that.

“So instead, people could dress up as a Mexican and climb the wall.

“It was just great fun and pulled people in and throughout the day, there was a queue to have a go.”

This year, the Warminster Wobble was headlined by the MTB Savage Skills Team who showcased their impressive stunt riding while firm family favourites made a welcomed return including the Toddle Wobble and last years big hit, the popular Warmy Shore, a gaggle of brand new whacky bikes.

On the Sunday, cyclists of all abilities were able to go on a number of rides, taking in some of the beautiful views around Warminster and beyond.

“It was a glorious day especially with the weather,” Mr French added.

“What is really nice is that we get people coming back each and every year especially for the rides. So the whole event has become very popular and it is trying to get out the appeal of cycling and getting people out and about.”

Organisers will soon be in talks to put together next year’s Wobble.
