A YOUNG carer from Warminster has been recognised for her outstanding learning and training with a national care award.

Care apprentice at Henford House Care Home Rebecca Marsh was awarded Apprentice/Learner of the Year in the Barchester Care Awards earlier this month.

Miss Marsh has been working at the home for two years after joining as an apprentice aged 16, and has made quite an impression on both staff and residents.

Miss Marsh, 18, said: "Working at the home is challenging, but its so rewarding and you form great relationships with the residents.

"I was so surprised when I was awarded the Barchester Care Award, I was on holiday so my colleagues went to the ceremony on my behalf.

"When they messaged me to tell me I won I really couldn't believe it.

"I can see myself having a long term career in the care sector."

Staff at the care home have been very supportive of Miss Marsh, especially general manager Lynn Leather, wo was one of the ones who accepted the award on Miss Marsh's behalf at the luncheon in Manchester on October 18.

She said: "We are so proud of Rebecca, she is such a hard working member of staff and has made great progress here after starting with no experience just two years ago.

"Her success has also encouraged other members of staff who are now working towards a nomination."
