THE National Trust team at Stourhead are looking for more volunteers to help care for, and share the story of, the world-famous landscape garden and Palladian house near Warminster.

The team are holding volunteer recruitment days on January 27 and 28 and are inviting anyone who may be interested in volunteering at the property to come along, talk to members of the team, and find out about the range of roles available and how they can get involved.

Over 440 volunteers in a wide range of roles currently work alongside the staff at Stourhead ensuring that the collection is cared for and that visitors have a great experience when they visit.

Jean Booth, volunteer co-ordinator at Stourhead, said: ‘Our volunteers are very precious to us and we would love to hear from anyone with time to spare. A volunteer with the National Trust will not only be part of an enthusiastic, friendly team, but will get the chance to work alongside some real experts and pick up all sorts of knowledge from them. Many find that the practical skills learnt are of use in future careers and in their homes. There are other perks too, like social events, discounts in the shop and restaurants and free entry to National Trust places around the UK.’

With a brand new property story, Genius of Place, launching in 2018, this is an exciting time to get involved with volunteering at Stourhead.

The team will be recruiting in a wide range of roles including room guides, garden guides, fundraising assistants, buggy drivers, shuttle drivers, welcome assistants, restaurant assistants and events volunteers who will help to plan and deliver a wide range of activities at Stourhead.

The taster days are taking place at the Memorial Hall, Stourton from 10.30am. There will be a presentation from staff and volunteers about life at Stourhead and the range of roles available. The recruitment team will be on hand throughout the morning to answer any questions and there will be an opportunity to tour the house or garden, depending on the volunteer role that spark an interest.
