AN elderly woman from Warminster was conned out of £300 by a fake builder who said he would fix her roof but never did.
At around 2pm, a man attended the victim’s address in Woodcock Gardens and told her that she needed work doing on her roof.
She paid the man £300 as a deposit and he was due to return to her house but he still has not. This took place on April 30.
A police spokesman said: “Never agree to have work done by someone just passing by. If you think work needs to be done, get at least two quotations from reputable companies. Never sign anything on the spot – but if you have, remember you have a seven day cooling off period during which you can cancel and receive a full refund.” To help call the police on 101.
