Kingdown School celebrates best ever GCSEs
4:29pm Thursday 23rd August 2012 in Warminster
Kingdown School has joined several others in West Wiltshire in defying national trends with its best ever GCSE results.
With 64 per cent of students achieving five A*-C grades including English and maths, the Warminster academy school is placed in the top 20 per cent of schools nationally.
Top performers included Chloe Hurd, with nine A*s and 3 As, and Nancy Frostick, with seven A*s and four As.
In total 81 per cent of students obtained at least five A*-C grades, and the school also defied national trends by reversing the gap between boys and girls in the crucial A*-C with English and maths category.
Headteacher Sara Edwards said: "Today we have achieved our best ever GCSE results thanks to the hard work of the students and staff and the support of parents.
"I am extremely proud of this school community and all we have achieved together."
