Mum knows best – so she’s started up a party bags business

A Warminster woman is hoping her new business selling pre-filled party bags will take off since she spotted the gap in the market in July.

Helen Ash, 40, of Broxburn Road, moved to the town from Weston- super-Mare in January, where she had spotted the success of similar businesses.

Her aim is to provide good value party bags with long-lasting gifts and treats inside, rather than what she describes as the “usual cheap toys which break easily”.

And with three young sons of her own she has plenty of help selecting the right items for the bags, from the 99p budget bag, with two toys, sweets and a balloon, up through the bronze, silver and gold ranges for boys or girls.

She said: “This service was very popular up in Weston and it doesn’t seem to have caught on here yet. I thought it was a good opportunity to start a new business.

“These toys are there to last, not just be used for a bit until they break or are chucked out. All those cheap toys still cost money and it is a waste. As well as the pre-filled bags people can buy all the bits individually to make up their own bags if they prefer.

“One of my sons, Daniel, is autistic and has Down’s syndrome, so I know that sometimes normal toys aren’t appropriated for everyone, so I try to cater for special needs as well.”

Mrs Ash’s website www.acepartybags.com, was designed by her old schoolfriend Stewart Fergusson, who has recently started his own web design business in Crockerton.
