Car dealer Miles Eglin, accused of bouncing cheques on an auctioneer to the value of almost £185,000, has been released on bail by a judge.

Eglin, of Shaw Hill, Melksham, was appearing at Swindon Crown Court today where he is facing four counts of fraud over a three week period last summer.

It is alleged the 45-year-old issued the cheques, to a total value of £184,874, knowing there were insufficient funds to meet them.

No charges were formally put to Eglinand he did not enter any pleas during the brief hearing.

It is alleged that he first bounced a cheque for £38,409 payable to Aston Barclay Westbury on Tuesday July 31 last year.

Then on Friday August 3, and a week later on August 10, he sent cheques, each for £63,933, which again failed to clear.

The last charge relates to a cheque of £18,599 which was said to have been issued on Monday August 20.

Judge Douglas Field adjourned the case to Friday September 20 and released Eglin on unconditional bail until then.
