Westbury home to stage memory walk
Westbury Residential and Nursing Home is holding a memory walk on Friday at 2pm, as part of the Alzheimer’s Society Memory Walk initiative.
Staff and residents will be walking around the local park for Alzheimer’s Society’s biggest annual fundraising event, which is held in partnership with Bupa Care Services.
The event is part of a series of walks taking place across the UK every September, all raising money to provide vital support to people living with dementia and help research to find a cure for the future.
Care home manager Janet Oxlade said: “We are all in the process of getting our walking boots and sticks at the ready.
“Memory Walk is a worthy cause for our local people to get involved with and I’m sure everyone, no matter what their age, will have a great time at these fun, social events. We hope as many people as possible will join us to take part.”
This is the third year that Bupa Care Services has partnered with Alzheimer’s Society Memory Walk, with last year’s event raising £1.4 million in total.
