A warrant has been issued to find a Westbury man who was convicted of inciting and engaging in sexual activity with a young girl on Friday.

Mark Royden Edwards, 49, is believed to be in the Philippines, and in his absence was sentenced, at Swindon Crown Court, to three years in prison.

Edwards, of Pinto Walk, was found guilty of three counts of inciting sexual activity and one count of engaging in sexual activity with the teenager – who was aged between 13 and 17 when the offences took place.

Wiltshire Police is currently working with other forces and authorities to trackdown Edwards who lived in Jersey before moving to Wiltshire in January 2012.

DC Lizzie Hunt, investigating officer, said: “This man simply failed to believe that what he was doing was wrong and showed little remorse for his actions throughout this investigation. The jury has heard how he abused his position of trust as an adult and was motivated by his own desires.”

Anyone with information about Edwards whereabouts can call Wiltshire Police on 101.
