IT consultant Damian Hidalgo rushed to the aid of his brother whose car was trapped the floods in Yarnbrook this morning.

Mr Hidalgo, who lives in Westbury, went out to his brother Marcos who became stuck in floods while travelling on the A363, in his BMW 5 Series, under the village’s railway bridge.

Damian tried to get his brother’s car out by dragging it with a tow rope attached to his 4X4 - unfortunately to no avail. While, he was at the scene, he helped drag a Mercedes A-Class out which was also stranded.

Damian, who runs Prob-solve Solutions, based in Southwick, with his brother, said: “Unfortunately, my brother’s car was stuck in gear so I couldn’t get it out but while I was there I used my vehicle to pull out the A-Class. It was nice to help someone in need.

“The water was pretty high up on my wellies and it is a bit of nightmare that something like this has happened at this time of the year.”

The road is currently closed near the bridge with police at the scene. Marcos’ car was eventually pulled out of the water and has suffered damage to its engine.
