Pupils and staff at Westbury Leigh Primary School got into the spirit of Sports Relief on Friday by holding a mini Olympics to raise money for the charity.

The school’s Pupil Leadership Team set up a series of activities, including egg and spoon race, penalty shoot outs and Vortex throwing, with staff, children and parents asked to donate a minimum of 10p per station to enter.

PE co-ordinator Meg Croker, who supported the Pupil Leadership Team, said: “It was a fantastic event and great to have so many parents, grandparents, children and staff supporting it.

“The weather was fantastic and it was great to see so many people supporting the event. The Year 6 pupils did a fantastic job and it was a great way to raise money and start the weekend on active note.

“The children really wanted to beat their parents and teachers and they succeeded.

"The teachers also raced each other in an egg and spoon race, while our assistant headteacher became goalkeeper for the afternoon for a penalty shootout.”
