As part of their Human Reproduction and Relationships Science strand, the Year 6 class from Springmead School in Beckington have been taking part in a Flour Babies project.
They all took their own Flour Baby home to name and clothe, and have been keeping a detailed record of the experience of looking after a baby for a week.
Meanwhile, a series of sponsored events raised £2,515.90 for Mercy-in-Action, a record for the school.
Allison Todd, founder of the charity, thanked the children and told them how the money will be spent: £1,000 will be used to run a three-day camping trip for 189 street children, while the remainder will help five children from Mercy-in-Action’s residential home in Cebu to attend a local independent boarding school.
