Westbury held its Summer Celebration event on Saturday, with a whole host of stalls, children’s attractions and bands playing in the evening until midnight.

Activities included a miniature railway, courtesy of the West Wilts Society of Model Engineers, craft stalls, pony rides, belly dancers, clog dancers and a pig display.

There were a number of stalls, manned by local organisations such as the Westbury Royal British Legion and Westbury Lions, as well as a continental market.

In the evening, more than 1,000 people crowded into the Market Place to see live bands until midnight.

One of the organisers, Barbara Mantle, assistant clerk of Westbury Town Council, said: “We had a little rain but it did not spoil the fun.

“In the evening it was just a sea of umbrellas bobbing up and down to the rhythm to the Abba tribute act Abba Fever.

“Everyone had a great time and we’d just like to thank everyone for making this a successful event.”

The event has been running since the Queen’s Golden Jubilee in 2002 as a popular bi-annual event.
