Staff at Morrisons in Westbury have raised £1,277 for charity by taking part in the Round the World Cycle Challenge.

The store was one of 112 Morrisons across the South West to cycle the equivalent of the 24,902-mile circumference of the globe to raise funds for the Sue Ryder charity, which provides hospice care.

Westbury clocked up 419 miles over two days on an exercise bike and the money raised will go towards establishing new community services, family support teams and an online support community across the UK, including in the South West.

The Morrisons team reached their target by taking it in turns to pedal for up to an hour on the bike donated by local business Dynamic Bikes.

Staff dressed in keeping with the French theme and were surrounded by coloured bunting, balloons and pictures of French landmarks drawn by a colleague.

Gareth Wellbelove, the administration manager at the Westbury store, said: “It was brilliant and the customers loved it.”
