Schools, community groups and businesses across Warminster entered Christmas trees for the annual Minster Church of St Denys Christmas Tree Festival over the weekend.

Personalised trees with lights, baubles, themed decorations and witty names were on display in the church from Friday until Sunday, with groups such as the Royal British Legion and Warminster Scout Group among the 73 entries.

The event, which is now in its seventh year, also included performances from school choirs, a play performed by Minster Youth Group and a candlelit carol service with Warminster Brass Band.

Sylvia Short, who helps organise the festival, said: “It was fantastic and we had a really good turnout.

“It was nice to see so many people and there were several new exhibitors this year.
“The performances over the weekend were excellent.

“We had most of the schools in Warminster enter trees as part of the festival and they always put a lot of effort in.”

Other entries included Warminster Information Centre, Warminster and District Foodbank, Highbury Youth Football Club, Andrew Davis Carpets, The Athenaeum, Avenue Surgery Patient Group and The Minster Bellringers.

The Rev Carole Owen added: “It went really well and there were some excellent designs from the different community groups.

“The event always brings the town together.”
