Police are appealing for information after a van driver was assaulted between 5-6pm last Thursday after parking up in The Mead, Westbury.

A van driver had parked up in The Mead and was outside of his vehicle when a man approached him and assaulted him.

The victim fell to the ground but fortunately another vehicle pulled in and sounded its horn. The offender then ran to a white Ford Transit van and sped off.

The victim, a 38 year old man from Swindon, was not seriously injured in the incident.

The offender is described as of Asian appearance, aged in his late forties, 6ft 2ins tall and of medium build. He had black messy hair and was wearing a waist length black jacket and dark coloured jeans.

Officers would like to speak to anyone who has information regarding this incident and in particular, the driver of the van which pulled up while the victim was on the ground, as this person may have information which could assist the investigation.

Police are appealing for anyone with information to contact Local Crime Investigator George Moncrieff at Bourne Hill Police Station on 101.
