Hundreds of visitors enjoyed Westbury’s Christmas tree festival at All Saints Church over the weekend, with the four-day event including musical entertainment from the Steeple Rocks Choir.

The annual festival, which opened on Thursday, saw a fantastic range of trees sponsored and decorated by local businesses, organisations and schools.

Music was provided over the four days by Bratton Silver Band, Westbury Juniors Ukulele Band, soloist Harriet Long, All Saints Church Choir, Steeple Rocks Choir, Adrienne Hale and Westbury Infants and Hilperton Recorder Group.

Team rector the Rev Jonathan Burke said: “It was very successful and we definitely had more people than last year.

“This year’s trees were more creative than ever before and the musical performances were also great.”

The festival finished on Sunday with the Christingle service, while visitors to the church voted for their favourite tree of the 45 on show, with Cygnets Pre-school in Westbury coming out on top.

Organiser Roy Inwood said: “It went very well and everyone excelled themselves with their decorations this year. It was probably the best year yet for decorations and we had some great entries.

“People voted the tree by Cygnets as their favourite and it was a great design, with photos of each of the children’s faces on decorated cardboard cutouts of their bodies.

“Steeple Rocks Choir was one of the main highlights. They had everyone dancing and singing in the pews.

“It was very successful and I’ve already had people who have never entered a tree saying they want to sponsor one for next year, so we’re expecting to have more trees than ever before next time.”
