Children at Westbury Junior School were left ‘gobsmacked’ when three mysterious eggs appeared in their school playground.
The fibre glass eggs, made by a Westbury Junior parent, were put in the school grounds before Christmas as part of a writing exercise for pupils, who were then asked to write about the eggs – from short stories to newspaper reports.
Assistant headteacher Victoria Withers said: ““The children loved it.”
Police went to the school to question pupils about the appearance of the eggs which were removed a week later by a ‘specialist disposal team’ in full biohazard gear.
Class teacher Katrina Platt added: “The eggs really captured the children’s imagination and the whole school produced some fantastic pieces of writing.”
