Three Warminster neighbours were furious after they woke up to discover their cars had been written off outside their homes early on Saturday morning.

The incident at 2.15am on Woodcock Road left a trail of destruction, when a black VW Golf apparently collided with three parked cars and then drove off.

Alan Biggs, 53, had his Jeep Cherokee written off in the collision, along with his neighbours’ Ford Fiesta and a Renault Megane.

The self-employed graphic designer, who was asleep at home with his wife and two children when the collision happened, said: “I heard nothing outside because our bedroom is at the back of the house and we had our phones off.

“The first thing I knew about it was a neighbour knocking on the door and then we went outside and it was quite a scene.

“My car had only been MoT’d two days ago so I’m devastated, we are all devastated.”

A spokesman for Wiltshire Police confirmed a 25-year-old local man was helping with inquiries into the incident but said no arrests had been made.

Mr Biggs, whose car is still parked on the roadside where it was hit, added: “The speed on the road probably needs to be reduced, but at the minute it is only 30mph.

“I can understand not putting speed bumps in place as police and ambulance vehicles use it all the time.

“But they narrowed the road not long ago so they could widen the footpath and that hasn’t helped things.”
