BRATTON Primary School’s new headteacher Ian Bolton is determined to turn the school into a centre of learning and has ambitious plans for its future.

The 38-year-old took over the school almost three weeks ago having spent 15 years in teaching and been the former deputy head of Larkhill Primary School, Salisbury.

Mr Bolton is keen that in his new position at the school on Carpenter’s Lane, he can improve on what he already believes to be a good place.

“It’s very exciting and the community and children have been very welcoming and supportive,” he said.

“The reason why I wanted to become a headteacher is because I felt I had the skills and ability to instead of just influencing a class of 60 pupils, to influence a whole institution and this is a good opportunity to do that and make it a real centre for learning.

“It’s good to create a nice environment for the children to come to obviously but I want to create a real buzz for learning and I have the ambition to keep moving the school forward.

“The school got a ‘Good’ in its last Ofsted report but I want to do even better and I know that with the support of the community we can do that.”
