COUNCILLOR David Bradshaw has been elected as the new Mayor of Westbury, taking over from Christine Mitchell.
The decision was made at a town council meeting last night at the Laverton, where Cllr Stephen Andrews was also elected as deputy mayor.
One of Cllr Bradshaw’s first acts will be to light a beacon at the Westbury White Horse to mark the 70th anniversary of VE Day on Friday.
Cllr Bradshaw said: “I am delighted and honoured to have been elected Mayor of Westbury and look forward to a busy year ahead representing the people of Westbury and promoting the town.
“During my mayoral year I will be raising awareness and money for two local charities Crosspoint and Welfare of the Elderly in Westbury.”
