SIX pupils from Westbury Infants School were left celebrating after winning a poster competition in partnership with Westbury Court Care Home.

Year 1 children at the school on Eden Vale Road were asked to design a poster to promote the home’s ‘beach day’.

Home manager Graham Oakes said: “This poster competition was the first event as part of our new relationship and I was very impressed by the standard of posters designed.

“It was a tough decision. The residents love seeing the pupils from the school.”

The school has supported the care home since it opened three years ago, with pupils paying visits to the home, located on Station Road, at various time in the year.

The beach day was held to mark National Care Homes Open Day and involved creating an indoor beach.

Debby Huxham, acting headteacher of Westbury Infants said: “The children of Westbury Infants are enjoying a lovely relationship with Westbury Court.

“They had a wonderful time visiting the beach at Westbury Court and singing their favourite summer songs.

“They particularly enjoyed the Punch and Judy show as many of our children had never seen the show before.”
