STUDENTS and staff at Matravers School in Westbury have been celebrating after the school’s pass rate increased by 15 per cent compared with last year.

The school on Springfield Road achieved 63per cent of pupils achieving five A*-C, including English and Maths, up from 48 per cent last year.

Dr Simon Riding, headteacher, said “Matravers School is extremely proud of its class of 2015 and the results achieved by them.

“We are delighted to report significant continued improvements within our GCSE results.

“Matravers School is a “Progress 8” pilot school and has secured record-breaking combined best A*-C in English and Maths of 66 per cent, 11 per cent up on last year’s figure.

“Our best five A*-C including English and Maths is 63%.”

Notable results included eight A*s for Cianne Park, ten A*-As for Thalia Nitz and seven A*-As for Emma Flanagan.

Tom Ford, who achieved four A*s and four As, said: “The results were better than I expected and it’s a relief to find out what I got.

“It’s good to know all that hard work paid off.”

Hannah Dilena, who achieved one A* and five As, said: “I didn’t want to open the results but I feel better now that I have.”
