WESTBURY’S Angie Coleman had a hair-raising experience when she got her locks cut off to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support last week.
The 53-year-old, of Nightingale Drive, managed to raise £600 as part of the charity’s Brave the Shave campaign.
She said: “I’ve had my father and a couple of friends die from cancer and I’m getting on a bit and decided you have to do something a little crazy in your life.
“I don’t regret doing it, it was something different and it was for a good cause but it’s a bit chilly in the morning when I take my son to work.
“It’s okay actually and I’ve had some pretty good comments and I wouldn’t have a problem doing it again.
“I normally keep it short, never this short though, but I let it grow out a bit so that people could really see the difference when it was shaved off.
“I managed to raise £600 in donations from family, friends and colleagues at the Royal Oak in Hawkeridge where I work and I didn’t think I’d raise anywhere near as much as that.
“It’s already started to grow back.”
