A POLICE car was badly damaged when a car wanted in connection with a raid on an Upavon garage rammed into it.

Two men have been charged and a further three arrested and bailed following the accident and the break-in.

Police were called to the garage in High Street, Upavon, at 4.20am on Wednesday to reports that three vehicles had been stolen; a Fiat, Kia and Golf, as well as a number of sets of car keys.

Wiltshire Police said that officers spotted the Golf near Westbury but the vehicle failed to stop and reverse rammed a police car causing significant damage, before continuing towards Warminster.

It then crashed into Warminster School.

Ross Pinnock, 29, from Bristol, was arrested at the scene and has been charged with burglary and a number of driving offences.

Further inquiries led officers to an address in Warminster where four men, aged 22, 23, 25 and 28, were arrested.

The stolen Fiat was found in a nearby pub car park.

Police then carried out more searches of addresses in the Westbury and Warminster area and found sets of car keys and the stolen Kia.

Richard Andrew, 28, of Alcock Crest, Warminster, has been charged with burglary.

The three other arrested men have been released on bail pending further inquiries.

Pinnock and Andrew have been remanded in custody ahead of a court appearance later this month.

Anyone who witnessed the burglary or has any information about the stolen vehicles is asked to contact Wiltshire Police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
