STAFF from the Westbury Morrisons store, who took on a huge challenge when they completed the Race For Life for Cancer Research last June, were delighted to find the company they work for was prepared to add to their fundraising total.

The store's community champion Lisa Litterick explained: "We raised over £900 through sponsorship for the race between the eight of us that took part, under the name Morrisons Mates. The day was an amazingly emotional and rewarding one and an event we were all proud to be included in.

"I applied to the Morrisons Foundation to match our funding, and after a long wait I received a cheque for £734. As a colleague had battled cancer during 2015 it meant a lot to all staff to make a big deal of this, so we were pleased to present the extra money to a volunteer from the Westbury branch in our foyer for customers to see.

"This year we aim to beat the £1,639 total we raised for Cancer Research during 2015. A small group is entering the Race for Life in Bath on June 12 and a very large group is taking part in the Pretty Muddy event in Bath during September."
