THE Westbury White Horse will be shining bright for the Queen's birthday after £7,000 to clean, repaint and refill gaps on the monument was approved at a town council meeting.
Westbury Town Council plans to clean the landmark before The Queen’s official 90th birthday celebrations, which take place on April 21.
Plans are then in place to fill in the cracks with foam and cover the horse with a microcrystalline wax treatment, increasing its longevity and giving it a fresh look.
Keith Harvey, Westbury Town Council town clerk, said: “We are hoping to give the White Horse a spruce up before The Queen’s celebrations and following that we want to carry out some maintenance work.
“To complete the full development work, including the repainting and repair work, we need to raise a total of around £12,000, so we are asking local businesses to donate money to help raise the funds.
“We would like to say thank you to all business willing to donate money to this cause in advance.”
